LETTER: McMillin offers a golden opportunity

There is no denying that Illinois is in terrible financial condition. Fortunately, voters in the 101st House District have the opportunity to send someone new to Springfield to address all of Illinois’ problems. Democrat Jen McMillin is running for the seat vacated by Bill Mitchell. She is running against Republican Dan Caulkins.

Jen McMillin is the candidate we should send to Springfield. Jen has a master’s degree in public administration and is running her own campaign while continuing to work full time at Lincoln College. And she still makes time for her family. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious.

Jen strongly believes that we need more women in Springfield to represent our interests and to work for families. She shares my love of small towns, including Mahomet and all of the wonderful towns in this district, and plans to make investing in these communities a priority. Jen is committed to saving Illinois from financial calamity, but will not support any tax increase for low- or middle-income earners.

Illinois needs to stabilize its budget and spending and make the hard decisions to control pension costs. But she also has plans for growing our economy and for promoting innovation, education, and entrepreneurship in every community in Illinois. She has sound, creative ideas for improving Illinois and the quality of life in Illinois.

We have a golden opportunity to send Jen to Springfield to work for us. Jen has the education, energy, and enthusiasm to be the representative we need.
